Cool but quirky Apr 14, 2008 I purchased this product to do rapid prototyping of web-based learning design. It's too basic for someone with Flash skills but it's perfect for someone who has bumped up against the limits of Powerpoint and wants expanded functionality. It uses a Flash-type interface featuring timeline, stage, library, etc. and includes testing options and the ability to create branching scenarios. Built-in Section 508 accessibility and integration with leading learning management systems are a plus. In actual use, I have found the program to be quirky. Sometimes text doesn't display the way it should and settings sometimes revert to an earlier position for no apparent reason. The most annoying issue is that the scrubber function is not smooth and I'm running a fairly new PC with 2 gigs of RAM. This could be a system setting but it's driving me crazy. Bottom Line: I like this program, it does what I need it to do.

Concerning The Cynical Reviewer Dec 11, 2007 You seem to be confused as to what this product is! It is not for website design it is for creating interactive learning! I would suggest that you read!

Read this before you buy. Oct 16, 2007 For creating web demos, Captivate is nothing more than a gloried version of Powerpoint. It does not record dynamic content on a web page (like Flash, movies, or AJAX activity), and cannot keep up with multiple web page clicks. I get many blank slides and off kilter slides that take me hours to edit.
If you are looking for true webcasting software, buy Camtasia.
