4Great lens for money.  Dec 04, 2008
I got the 40-150mm zoom to go with my E-520. While the depth of field is not as shallow and has less bokeh than I'd like, overall it's a very good lens. Compact, quick focusing, and very sharp. It would be nice to have a lower aperture, but that's not a realistic hope. Great bargain for the money.

5Great lens  Nov 23, 2008
For the money, this is a fantastic lens. It focuses fast, the images are sharp in the proper range, and it is very compact for what it is. The only drawback is that it is an F/4 rather than a F/3.5 like the previous generation of this lens.

5Great Bang for Buck!  Nov 22, 2008
When my"therapist" at the local camera store told me he could sell me this lens for $100 I thought, "It's Olympus, how bad could it be?" So I bought it and took some time to set up a few test shots against the superb Olympus 14-54. The 40-150 performed beautifully, it's nice and sharp, and nothing I could do produced any fringing. The edges are plenty sharp enough, I just kept muttering WOW.

Focus and zoom seem on a par with the 14-54: smooth and fast.

Being 4.0-5.6 I guess there's not a whole lot of glass in there so the lens is very light. That can be an advantage when you need an all-purpose, compact, walk-around/travel lens. This is fast becoming mine.

One note: it has a plastic mounting flange, but the general build quality is solid. It doesn't come with a fancy case.

I believe it's the best $100 I ever spent on camera equipment!

5Vary good lens!!!  Nov 01, 2008
I had just bought an Olympus e-520 with the kit lens and I purched this lens to go along with it. I was looking between this one and the 300mm one and I read a different review from someone else about how the 300mm is to strong, and im sure he was right, because the minimum on this lens is 40mm and still that is a little too much zoom, so over all if your looking for a nice zoom lens but don't want to go overboard this is your lens. I also take great pictures for not being top of the line, but the pictures came out nice and crisp and crystal clear.

5Why the bad reviews? Its great!  Oct 06, 2008
I am a bit amused at the people who rate this less than 5 stars. I got mine refurbished for $80 which was a great deal, but even for the current $115 for a brand new lens is still an amazing deal. Sure this isn't a lens that will blow your mind, but I had no problems with this. Even in low light it performed just fine if you boost the ISO to about 1k. The pictures in sunlight are superb. I have no complaints, this is an awesome lens to upgrade to if you aren't satisfied with the limited zoom of the standard 14-45 lens.
